Blueprint’s Trent Basin development represents an early and crucial phase of a major regeneration project and a catalyst for change. The project is located within Nottingham Waterside, an area widely acknowledged as one of Nottingham’s greatest but least developed assets. Stretching from Trent Bridge to Colwick Park and bounded by the river Trent, the area is currently the focus of far reaching redevelopment proposals.
The Trent Basin site has long waterside frontage both to the River Trent and an inland harbour that in its hey day was a busy inland port. The site has highly attractive views over the river to Lady Bay and yet is no more than 10 minutes by bike from the Nottingham City Centre and even closer to the Nottingham train station. Accessibility to work, shopping and transport are significant attributes.
The project will provide around 500 contemporary, high quality, low energy homes. Our vision foresees a new kind of sustainable neighbourhood with a distinct identity and a strong sense of place, underpinned by research and innovation.
A significant part of this innovation is arising from the work developed by Project SCENe’s consortia enabled by Innovate UK funding and the Energy Research Accelerator ERA. It brings together companies involved in the energy supply chain with key industry players, academics and the potential buyers of around 120 homes on site to deliver new models for community energy schemes. Using novel consumer engagement tools and a focus on business model development the consortium will develop and test business model templates that could be used by Blueprint and other developers of large scale housing projects.
